In today’s post, I wanted to talk about one of the BIGGEST stumbling blocks and hurdles my students face.
It is literally the #1 complaint I get and one of the issues that keeps them from realizing how much success they can achieve with their online businesses.
What is it?
Have you have ever wished you could get MORE targeted website traffic? Or any traffic at all?
Maybe you are getting traffic, but it is not converting.
Or you could be struggling to get sales, even though your website is fully done and ready.

I want to share with you a few KEY points that most people don’t understand when it comes to traffic, mainly getting targeted website traffic.
Then, at the end of this post, I will tell you how you can get free access to my newest traffic training. This is a free video course I wanted to get out to my students to help them put the pieces together and finally solve the traffic mystery.
I call this video course the “Perpetual Traffic Machine.”
This “machine” is an automated flow of targeted traffic to your site that never slows down and increases over time.

Before I talk about the course, though, I want to outline some important points that relate to traffic.
Not All Traffic is Created Equal
It’s a popular misconception that if you post your website in places where a lot of people congregate, you will get a lot of traffic to your website. This is partly true, but it is not the whole story.
Simply posting your website everywhere and waiting for hungry buyers to show up will not get you any type of targeted traffic that eventually leads to sales. These traffic strategies are dated and irrelevant.
Today’s shoppers are SAVVY and they know what they want. They are also highly skeptical and will not buy unless they trust you first.
To succeed in the traffic game today, you need to think deeply about what you are posting and to whom you are posting. It isn’t enough to simply post your website link and hope for someone to click on it. There has to be more strategy involved.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself while coming up with your traffic strategy:
- Where am I posting this content/link?
You want to fully understand the location you are posting your website or any other media you are using to drive traffic.
Is it a social media site? If so, you will want to post content that is lighter, not invasive, and is more engaging.
Are you sending an ad? If so, is your audience cold (never heard of you before), warm (know about you but never opted in or bought anything) or hot (has purchased something)? You will want to know this before posting your content to drive targeted website traffic.
- Who will be viewing this content/link?
This is related to question #1. You need to understand what state people will be in when seeing your content or link.
Your main goal is to “continue the conversation.”
What I mean is, if you posted an advertisement on FB, who exactly are the people you are targeting and who will be seeing this ad?
Are you targeting people who have never seen your brand or who do not know you?
Are you targeting your FB fans only who are already acquainted with your brand?
Knowing WHO and WHY you are targeting these people is CRUCIAL to a successful traffic campaign.
Let’s take the first scenario as an example.
You post an ad on Facebook that sends traffic to a page where you are trying to get optins/leads for your business and get people on your email list. So you target people who have interests that are related to your site.
This is a common practice with FB ads, but what you may not know is this is NOT an ideal strategy. Why?
Because you are not continuing the conversation. Actually, you haven’t even started a conversation.
Let me put it another way.
Imagine you walked up to a person you thought was attractive and wanted to get to know better. Would you ask them to move in with you without even introducing yourself? You wouldn’t unless you want to get rejected right there on the spot!
This is the same rejection you will get from people viewing this ad if they do not know you.
You are asking them for a commitment (optin) before you even introduced yourself. They will be just as hesitant to do so as they would be if you walked right up to them and asked them to move in with you.
In this scenario, you need to START the conversation first and introduce these people to your brand. This would involve sending them first to some free content that does not require any commitment for them to take. GIVE, GIVE and GIVE some more!
Then, once they see and digest this content, the people who visited this free content are NOW your target audience for your optin ads.
You are continuing the conversation with them because they know you already and as a result, they will be ready to take the next step (optin).
Now, this is a very basic explanation of how this works. My main goal here is to help you understand that not all of your traffic is the same and it’s important that you dig into where you are posting and to whom you are posting to get a broader picture.
